Ansoo Lake is situated in Kaghan Valley Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. It is located near Malika Parbat in the Himalayan range at the altitude of 4,245 meters (13,927 ft). It has higher altitude than, Lake of Saif ul Muluk.
The word “Ansoo” means “Tear”, this lake has a shape like tear, that is why known as “The Ansoo Lake”. It is covered in snow throughout the year, but the best time to visit is July and August. This month is know as spring for this lake. When green show its color and the flowers starts flowering.
In 1993 an Air Force Pilot of Pakistan (PAF), fly very low in the area, saw this beautiful lake, the pilot doesn’t believe so he turns back to see another look. This time he saw clearly that there is a lake. He saw it from his air craft, the shape was similar to the Tear, given the name than. But it was strange when the villagers were told they said they didn’t know about this lake.
In 2010 a team of climber went their to properly explore this lake. They took pictures and made videos so to educate entire world that at such high altitude a beautiful lake exists. From than after peoples start visiting this beautiful places.
- From Lake Saif-ul-Malook: It takes seven to nine hours of trek for a round trip from Lake Saif-ul-Malook to Ansoo Lake. It would be better if you spend night at Lake Saif-ul-Malook and start traveling as early as possible in the morning. Horses can also be hired from the Lake Saiful Mulook along with a guide who will take you to Ansoo Lake. This trek can be separated into two halves. The first part is through a valley alongside river to the base camp of Malika Parbat. The second steeper part is from the base camp of Malika Parbat to Ansoo Lake.
